The science is evolving at high speed, thanks to the work of scientists and researchers who spend hours working in laboratories and different fields of study.
- Scientific research involves months of work in laboratories and different environments.
- Students interested in training in Science careers will discover in this note the inspiration and impulse they need to definitely make this their vocation.
- Some of the advertisements made by scientists allow hope to cure diseases of high mortality.
It is through their knowledge that diseases can be cured, understand human body behaviors, understand different species of animals, analyze atmospheric phenomena and even prevent natural disasters. With their work, scientists can change the way we see the world, and how we connect with it.

Every year that passes the science makes incredible advances that allow doctors and pharmacists to hope to find the cure for diseases considered incurable, astronomers prepare new trips to space with enough information to succeed, and biologists get a little closer to conservation of endangered species.
Due to the great value that the evolution of science has for different areas of life is that the work of these professionals must be valued, remembered and recognized. Therefore, this time we highlight the most outstanding scientific research of 2017, those that really gave talk as soon as they emerged, and that continues to generate hopes for this year.
1) There are more sea turtles
It is commonly believed that this animal is in danger of extinction, but a study by a group of researchers from Aristotle University in Greece allowed us to prove otherwise. These scientists claim that the population of sea turtles was higher in 2017 than in previous years and that it continues to increase.
2) Plants can emit light
By incorporating certain nanoparticles in the leaves of a plant it is possible to make it emit light, according to what the scientists of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) demonstrated.
What is the use of this discovery? Because it allows to open the door to other types of modifications for the plants.
3) Personalized Medicine is the future
In mid-2017, the U.S. Food and Drug Agency (FDA) finally approved a type of leukemia treatment based on the patient’s own cells. This method was designed based on scientific research that argues that by personalizing drugs it is possible to cure diseases as strong as cancer.
4) We are not alone
Astronomers have discovered more solar systems , and even one with characteristics very similar to those of the system in which the Earth is located. This discovery allows us to explore the idea of recreating the conditions of life on Earth in another solar system, and even brings back to life the hypothesis that we are not alone in the universe.
5) New species of animals
The region known as Great Mekong (which includes Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam) was the center of studies for a group of scientists. In different ecosystems of this region, scientists managed to identify about 115 species of animals that until now were unknown.
These researchers discovered new fish, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and plants in a single region, which allows us to reflect on the thousands of unknown species that can inhabit the planet and expect to be discovered.
6) Creation of artificial neurons that fight brain diseases
Swiss researchers have managed to create artificial neurons that are capable of transmitting signals as fast as the neurotransmitters of the human body do, thus improving treatment in neurological diseases.
7) Revolutionary fabrics
Scientific advances have managed to create fabrics that a few years ago looked like science fiction. These are unbreakable garments, fabrics capable of adapting to different temperatures or that can repel water without looking like the typical raincoat we have in mind.
8) The Earth without humans?
What would Earth be like if humans had never existed? This has been the basic question of the study of the University of Aarhus in which it has been resolved that the world of mammals would be very different. So much that we could find rhinos or elephants in Europe, for example.
9) Cloned macaques
After the famous cloning of the Dolly sheep, two female macaque, Zhong Zhong, and Hua Hua have been the last to be cloned. The interest generated by this breakthrough is very high since human beings are very similar to apes genetically and this could suggest that human cloning is closer than ever.
10) On the Moon and on Mars there is water
NASA and the European Space Agency have discovered, respectively, that there is ice water on the moon and that there is ice on the surface of Mars.
Are you interested in science? Would you like to be a scientist? Throwing yourself into this race could allow you to make discoveries of this nature, and therefore, in a way, change the world.
